The fees we charge are set and regulated by the state of Florida and we are held accountable for our actions by the Florida Department of Financial Services, as well as our Insurance Company. Everyone, even if they own their own company can and should be held accountable to someone if they choose to violate the laws that govern our industry. A Bail Bond Agent or their agency should not overcharge a client for obtaining their services, nor should they charge less than the law requires and clients or potential clients should be aware of this. For these reasons, on our "Home" page in the left hand column, we have links to Florida State Statutes 648 and 903 for any browser to view. I would encourage anyone to take a few minutes to review these statutes and this will enable them to become more familiar with how Bail Bond Agents (Bondsmen) and bail related services are governed. Our company feels very strongly that even though we as owners of a bail bond agency may have great latitude in offering the services we provide, we still have laws and guidelines that we must also adhere to and follow. The penalties for our failure to do as governed and or required by Florida Statute, can and should have severe financial and criminal consequences. We as Bail Agents ARE NOT above the law and we should all take pride in the manner in which we offer and provide our services to each and every client.
Just because a person has been arrested, it does NOT make them a "bad" person or a criminal in nature. More importantly, if the person that has been arrested is or is not guilty should NOT be the Bail Agents concern. Even if the person is guilty of what they have been charged with, they have simply made a mistake and should be afforded every opportunity that due process and our constitution provides. We should view each and every person equally, regardless or race, creed or gender and treat them with respect, dignity and courtesy as everyone so deserves.
